Excess Baggage is a humorous article about fat eyes and how we can learn to live with our excesses by smiling. Enjoy!
EXCESS BAGGAGE
In the German, Italian or English language, "Zuschlag Gepack", "su un biglietto ferroviario bagaglio"or "Excess Baggage"is a slang term for something we do not want. In laymen terms it is too much of not a good thing. Although my personal niche is not writing, I am compelled to write about "Excess Baggage". And so you may ask, "Why excess baggage"? To answer this question, I must tell you about a new friend that unveiled his creative writing abilities to me by explaining that he had won TV Ontarios contest by answering this question, "Why do men have nipples"? Was this his way of telling me that the bags under my eyes were uncommonly noticeable and that I must get more sleep? This notion has inspired me to temporarily justify excess baggage and turn it into something positive, especially for women that are 40, plus or minus, that query as to what could be causing this? Many articles are written on the subject of looking our best, "Firm After 40", "Fewer Lines!", " Slimmer Buttocks!", but never have I seen read anything pertaining to getting rid of "Excess Baggage", particularly ones under the eyes. This business of not wanting what we can have is a multimillion dollar business in the field of dermatology. Cosmetic companies instruct us to use night cream, eye makeup removal cream and line reducing creams when we go to bed, wake up or anytime we might think of it. Never have I heard of a cream that reduces bagginess, short of any eye-lift.
Teaching A Computer To Recognize Attractiveness In Women
"Beauty," goes the old saying, "is in the eye of the beholder." But does the beholder have to be human? Not necessarily, say scientists at Tel Aviv University. Amit Kagian, an M.Sc....
It seems in the 90s, that questions that make little sense promote lingering thoughts. Does this mean that the most important questions have been answered or that we are reverting to a simpler way of Life? Can your level of intelligence be measured by the size of the bags under your eyes? No, not really, as Doctors may have large bags due to late night delivering of babies or Lawyers from working on that case that "must be won". Persons with much less education have excessive baggage and dark circles at that from sleepless nights in rowdy and noisy rooming houses. Can puffy eyes be attributed to age? I dont think so but society rubs this notion in constantly flashing near- perfect robotic women before the silver screen. Remember Rod Stewart singing the lyrics to Maggie May, "the morning sun really shows your"? Yes, like it or not, excess baggage is thought of as over-the hill. It could be too little sleep, too much sleep, too much stress, or simply lying on the bed with your face scrunched into the pillow! Can life styles affect the dimension of swelling eyes? Maybe, but that theory can be argued. There are those laid back personalities that wake up, such as me, with unaccounted bags. Emotions may contribute to our "Excess Baggage", such as the shy youngster who repeatedly stood at the doorway rubbing both eyes before entering. Why did we not know at such a young age that the eyes were the most sensitive part of the body and that they would droop quicker than the nipples in adulthood?
No sense crying over spilt milk! Sobbing promotes lack of elasticity that doesnt spring back under the eyes. Yes our skin seems to be the only organ, and the largest, that we have no control over. The mere elements are an unmeasurable enemy. So having said that, lets view "Excess Baggage" as something to be proud of! Weve earned it. Throw away those tea bags. We dont know which one gives the best results, Orange Pekoe or Red Rose. Just smile! Discard those dark sun glasses too. It could just be the need for more sleep or having too much sleep, being stressed out, you had a bad week or even a good week. Who know but be proud that any or all of these may cause "Excess Baggage". Besides, smiling pushes up the cheeks and who knows, may overlap the droopy bags and entice the eye of the beholder to concentrate on the friendly eyes and gleaming smile. After all, beauty is not skin deep.
