An Overview of Candida Yeast Infection

Candida yeast infection can occur in different parts of the body as the result of an over growth of the candida fungus. A consultation with the doctor is advised if you have yeast infection. However, it’s good to know that there are home remedies you can take to get fast relief if you can’t go to a doctor right away.

What is Candida?

Candida is a fungus that is present in and beneficial to the stomach but is harmful when in other parts of the body. Below are some of the other body parts where candida can exist.

* oral cavities
* mucous membranes
* skin area where diaper is placed
* male genitals
* vagina
* internal organs

It is important to note that yeast infection in the internal organs is quite dangerous. This is usually caused by a weakened immune system due to diseases like cancer and AIDS.

What Causes Yeast Infection?

Yeast infection results from the excessive growth of candida in the body, which leads to the decrease in the number of good bacteria. The over growth can be brought about by any of the following:

* intake of antibiotics
* diabetes
* use of detergent
* use of intimate things that are perfumed
* use of products that hat have a high ph level

Home Remedies for Yeast Infection

Below are some of the things you can do at home to treat candida yeast infection.

* Use acidophilus. This can be taken either topically or orally. It takes around two weeks of usage for the yeast infection to be treated.
* Boil guava leaves. Use the boiled water to wash the vagina. The antiseptic characteristics of the boiled water can effectively remove bacteria.
* Mix garlic with tea tree oil. Apply on the infected area.
