Stress Management Exercises




Proper stress management is very important because stress can be detrimental to your health as it increases your risk of developing serious health conditions. Correct stress management techniques could be your life-saver. Exercising your mind and body can be beneficial to making your life stress free and easy. Here are some recommended stress management exercises to help you relax and be calm.

Meditation
Meditation is believed to be one of the deepest forms of relaxations. It can offer you both body and mind relaxation. There are several meditation techniques that have been introduced. You just need to try a few of them and pick out which suits you best.

The meditative state is the major goal to achieve during meditation. It is the process wherein a person connects to inner self and deep centering state of mind. During this process, you will be able to quite down your body, mind and soul. Meditation has proven to offer maximum relaxation. It will be best if you can practice it daily.

Another form of meditation – and one that I use – is to think on good things like the Christian Bible advises. “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious?the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” (Phil 4:8 TM) By meditation on good and not allowing my mind to drift to stressful thoughts (bad things) I relax and am able to focus less on the stressful situations that pop up on a daily basis.

Biofeedback
Biofeedback is used to monitor and modify the body’s reaction to stress to determine the best way to fight it. The more you learn about the physiological changes going on inside your body, the more it is for you to be able to identify the ways to alter it to desirable results. There are several benefits to adapting the biofeedback technique. Aside form the mental and physical relaxation, it also helps you improve your response to stress.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation
This is a relaxation method done by a series of muscle tightening and relaxation. Experts consider this as a posible technique to improve stress management. A relaxed body usually results to a relaxed mind. This is where the idcea of muscle relaxation was derived. This one requires muscle activities that are easy to do. According to studies, it is best to spend 10-20 minutes of muscle relaxation daily.

Autogenic Training
Autogenic training is a popular treatment for people who suffer too much daily stress. This technique was innovated in the early 20th century and was focused on creating body sensations awareness through concentration. It requires no special skills, just focusing on various body region sensations, like heaviness and warmth. Most physicians believe that this can help treat various health conditions and a very effective way to fight stress.

Yoga
Yoga is an ancient Indian form of exercise that restores the balance and brings harrmony to the mind, body and soul. Yoga is a technique almost similar to meditation. It is believed to focus on the physical aspect of the exercise, while meditation focuses on the mental component of it. There are several forms of yoga – most common are sahaja yoga, power yoga and bikram yoga. Yogis believe that there are a lot of mental benefits for doing yoga. In addition to that, it is also a very effect way of stress management.
